Hi
I got a Direto 2 last year in March, after being fine for six months or so it started developing a number of variant issues, initially it started was making a a strange intermittent popping/clicking noise and this seemed to cause a feeling of slippage/chain jumping see video below.
That then stopped but it started being a nightmare with indexing. On close inspection it turned out that the cassette appeared to be ‘wobbling’ so much through its motion that the chain was skipping between gears. I tried tightening it all up but it seems the freehub has movement and therefore the cassette is wobbling. See video, on inspection part of the freehub seems to be missing a piece, has this sheared off? I assume it is meant to be a full circle and the lack of this piece is meaning it won’t tighten hence the wobble?
Any ideas or help on the noise and the wobble? Does this just need a new freehub or is something else going on here?also shimano compatIble freehubs seem to be impossible to source can you advise.
Thanks
N

Re: Direto ii problem
Hi
It seems to be not properly mounted, there shouldn't be that play.
You have to stick it completely down.
If you are not able to do it, please contact your trusted mechanic.

Re: Direto ii problem
Thanks but it’s not that, I know how to get it on its the actual freehub.
On closer inspection the inside appears to have completely fallen apart/broken into smaller rings and completely lost its integrity, some bits even fell out.
I presume then I do just need a new freehub?

Hi - any thoughts on this further to the above? Do you agree this is an issue with the freehub?
Thanks
