screech noise on power-on

Since upgrading the firmware, there has been a short screeching noise coming from my XR when it's powered on. It sounds like something slipping, it's not a nice noise. I think I've heard similar when riding and applying more power to climb etc, but I'm not 100% sure.
The firmware update may be a coincidence, I'm not sure, but it seemed to start after that. There were a bunch of odd noises after it, buzzing etc., but they seem to have calmed down.
