3mm clearance, why?

Drivo 2 ... ok, I'm confused, why the 3mm clearance? I've set it up for 3mm clearance at the centre support, when I have the leg out and 3mm clearance I get a noise in the trainer, when I pull the leg back and the centre foot is touching its all good. And what are the two small adjustable feet for? The manual is no help.
