Arion digital resistance setting to simulate flat ground

Hi
I had been using the Arion with the iPhone app set at 0% gradient to simulate outside flat ground, and using a preset workout on my Garmin head unit to guide my power intervals (changing gear on the bike when necessary as I would outside) I have found that using the Garmin to control the Arion on intervals doesn't really work.
Anyway, my iPhone app subscription has now ended, and I don't want to pay for another year as I'm only using it to set the resistance.
So, to my question, should I set the trainer at 8/16 to simulate 0% gradient, or 9/16?
Thanks.
