Cadence very unstable on Novo Digital Smart B+

Just bought one of these, but keep finding that the cadence is really unstable, sometimes jumping up to 250 or dropping to very low values, although settles a bit after a while.

Any suggestions as to the issue? Maybe making the wheel tighter to the roller?
